2008 Sequim Lavender Festival to feature artwork “Lavender Bliss” by Sally Cays

The 2008 Sequim Lavender Festival is proud to present artist Sally Cays’s “Lavender Bliss” as the official festival artwork.  The Festival, which will be  Friday, July 18 - Sunday, July 20, 2008, will showcase the watercolor on the Festival’s posters, t-shirts, advertising, and other promotional materials.

Ms. Cays is a self taught artist whose work can be found in galleries throughout the Pacific Northwest.  The Waterfront Art Gallery in Port Angeles and Cays’s Gallery on the Wall are two local venues where her work can be seen.   Cays says that her “watercolor paintings reflect her love of intense color and strong contrasts, and express the beauty in the world around her with what she calls the luminous quality of watercolor."  While most of her works are watercolor florals and still lifes, Ms. Cays has included wildlife, landscape, and portrait paintings; as well as award-winning highly detailed colored pencil, ink, and charcoal drawings

.   With regional, national, and international recognition, Ms. Cays is a signature member of The Northwest Watercolor Society, a member of the National Watercolor Society and of the American Watercolor Society, and a juried member of Women Painters of Washington. Her works have been published in "Splash 5; the Glory of Color" and "Splash 6; The Magic of Texture”(North Light Books).   Ms. Cays instructs a popular watercolor class and also offers an online course “Portraits of Children.”

You can view “Lavender Bliss” on the cover of the 2008 Sequim Lavender Festival brochure and at the festival website www.lavenderfestival.com.  Commemorative posters and other items with the artwork will be available at the festival or through the website in July.
